Lucid Dreaming
I’ve been doing and trying this since sometime late last year. It’s amazing, I’d recommend anyone to try it. It helped my..”bodily control” (pardon, I’m not sure how to phrase it) so much, putting forth so much psychical effort to not do something and resist instinct. And it improved my nighttime experience so much.
One Of The Biggest Of My Many Fears
“I look at my future and I see such a 1960’s story. College, job, family, grow old. Nothing for anyone to remember, just 80 years of nothing extraordinary. Sometimes I just want to say screw it all and do as many things as I can without looking at my whole future. I don’t want to be just another person. More than wanting to be remembered, I want to be on my deathbed and say “Fuck, this was an amazing ride.” I’m afraid to live a life of quiet desperation. “
I’m so afraid that I’ll live until I’m 80, 90, or however old, and I’ll do nothing. I would hate to have just been an unremarkable person, and it would scare me. It would make me feel like a waste, like I didn’t do anything, like I may as well have no lived because it made no difference anyway. You know that little “And my life flashed before my eyes” thing that tends to happen in movies and books (and I suppose it may happen to you if you had some sort of near-death experience)? Well, on my deathbed or when my life flashes before my eyes, I want to see myself making a difference in someone’s life, or making a Read the rest of this entry
On Rick Santorum
Felt the need to share this. Although it’s semi serious on this canditate, this is a really funny video (or way to make light of this horrible person). I love this guy – (NSFW)
I really haven’t seen many – any – good candidates for presidency. How sad.
Stop caring about whether or not a member has an avatar
This is in regards to online forums.
I see a topic on so many administrative and webmaster forums asking for people’s opinions about “what it shows when a staff member or member doesn’t upload an avatar”. It bothers me that there are so many “It shows that they’re only there to advertise” and “it shows that they are not going to be an active member” replies.
No. Just, no. Them not uploading an avatar, you know what that means? It means that they don’t want to upload an avatar. It’s completely irrelevant to how much they’re going to post, how they’re going to post, and why they are going to post at the forum. So no, you shouldn’t make the person get an avatar before you hire them as a staff member. Yes, having an avatar on the forum looks better on the forum and for the forum. But really, is it that big of a deal? The point of a forum to have quality content, posts, a community. A community is not made up of avatars, and having an avatar does not mean that the person is going to be active or bring good content to the forum.
I see some people saying that if you don’t upload an avatar you’re “lazy”. No, the person is not lazy. Yes, some people may be too lazy to upload an avatar, but that’s not why most or all people do not upload an avatar. Some people don’t upload an avatar because they can’t find a good one that expresses them well. Some people do not upload Read the rest of this entry
I love boyish girls and girlish boys
Or rather, I love it when people break out of their gender roles and what’s typically expected of a person of that gender. I love it when a girl gets a pixie cut or shaves her head, and I love it when a male wears skinny jeans, or writes poetry (which isn’t actually supposed to be considered “girly” but usually, if a guy joins the poetry club in high school or a school that isn’t specifically for that they get called “gay” or such “insults” by people who are not in it). It makes me so happy. I like the feel that we’re..evolving somehow. I feel like “gender” in general, and specifically gender roles confine us so much. Gender is such a thin, transparent thing. It tends to define who we are, and I don’t believe that’s right. If more males would step out of their comfort zone and try something that’s “for girls” and more girls would take a break from trying to look and act like Barbie and shave their head, try football, or get dirty, then there would be so much more openness in the world. There would be less judgement, because with gender roles comes expectations that can’t always be fulfilled. It’s not always possible for a girl to be thin or have long hair. It’s not always possible for a guy to be fit and manly. And that’s usually what is expected of those genders. Read the rest of this entry
